Minx Originals

Ming Lee was the name I gave my pug pup...and then it just turned into Minx...and so it goes. She became my label for the original crocheted hats that I make, no two alike, and out of my creative conscience she is my muse for my artwork now.

Mixed Media

Drawing, painting, photography - just scramble it up and you
have all the ingredients for a wonderful repast....

Painting: I had a murals company years ago called Climbing The Walls, and painted on interior walls in some very high profile homes, along with commissioned murals in the Children's Hospital in Los Angeles. Vin and Sandi Scully wanted a fairyland bedroom for their youngest daughter; and after sitting with the young girl, and getting all the ideas I needed, I created a storybook place on the walls, where the pages turned and new themes were seen, complete with cherubs over her bed on the ceiling.
Another commission was Kareen Abdul Kabbar's infant son's room. Being Muslim, my job was to create an Arabian Nights setting in the desert, with tents and banners, and flying carpets...and on one wall over his crib; a learning train, with alphabet letters going through an oasis.
So painting on walls led to painting on furniture, that made the rooms complete environments for the children and were loved by them and parents alike.

After 10 years of hauling paint and ladders around Los Angeles, I started painting on silk. This included clothing and backdrops, etc., and decided to open a small store in Santa Monica where I would paint before the wandering customers, so they could see how what they bought was created.

A lifetime of painting was sandwiched in with a husband and family and trips that took us to wonderful places all over the world.....and of course, taking pictures of those places, that then turned into themes for more artwork.

Now I added designing and crocheting to my repertoire -
hats, scarves, updated with the berets and the hobo, all for women and children under my Minx Orignal label.

Will be able to show my work and crocheting on a Painting a Day soon...
